LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Applied Sciences works on streetscapes, shorelines, parks, and other public spaces, alongside engineering efforts related to stormwater and watershed management. This has led to an integrated practice focused on complex, water-oriented public realm projects. Our clients are primarily local governments, not private developers. We are seeking a Landscape Architect with 3+ years of professional experience to support the design and delivery of public space projects. This is an in-office position for a candidate who is passionate about shaping resilient, community-focused environments.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting site analysis and supporting concept development

  • Preparing drawings using AutoCAD and other design tools

  • Assembling plan sets, details, and presentation materials

  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams across engineering, planning, and environmental disciplines

Applied Sciences also works on resilience planning, coastal adaptation, sea level rise policy, and other climate-related initiatives. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to these efforts. This position will work closely with a team principal and offers opportunities for professional growth, increased responsibility, and involvement in client-facing work.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (MINIMUM REQUIRED)

  • Degree in Landscape Architecture

  • 3+ years of experience in site design and detailing

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS (PREFERRED)

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite

  • Experience with GIS

  • Urban design experience is a plus

  • Experience with streetscape design

SENIOR WATER RESOURCES ENGINEER

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

General responsibilities include performing water resources planning and design projects with an emphasis on maintaining project schedules and budgets.  At a minimum, you will be responsible for maintaining project schedules, goals, and deadlines; Preparing fee and person-hour estimates, job budgets, and schedules; and Developing hydrologic and hydraulic models at local and watershed scales.  Reviewing and providing comments on hydrologic and hydraulic models prepared by others; Preparing or overseeing the preparation of final plans and design reports; and Conducting or overseeing personnel involved in engineering investigations and planning work.

 

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE (MINIMUM REQUIRED)

·         ABET-accredited Engineering bachelor’s degree (Civil Engineering with a specialization in Water Resources preferred)

·         A current State of Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to obtain one is preferred.

EXPERIENCE (MINIMUM REQUIRED)

·         5+ years in water resources-related work

·         Proficiency in developing and reviewing hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) models at local and watershed scales.

·         Experience with H&H models such as ICPR, EPA SWMM, XP-SWMM, HEC-HMS, or HEC-RAS

·         Experience with ESRI GIS software.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED

·         Proficient in ArcHydro Tools

·         Strong organizational and communication skills (written and oral)

·         Microsoft 360 Suite proficient

·         Ability to work in a team environment.

GIS Analyst

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

General responsibilities include producing, referencing, analyzing, managing, and storing GIS data.  The analyst supports a team of engineers and other GIS staff on various-sized projects for public and private entities.  Will include attending meetings, and assisting in coordinating project tasks with the team.  Will require basic understanding of water resources and functions of other infrastructure. Some level of field work will be necessary.  Travel will generally be local.

EDUCATION (MINIMUM REQUIRED)

  • BA/BS in Geography, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field

EXPERIENCE (MINIMUM REQUIRED)

  • 2+ years in GIS related work

  • Some experience with GIS software, preferably ESRI-based applications

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED

  • Experience with spatial and 3D analysis

  • Familiarity with ArcHydro tools

  • Computer programming (Python, VB, C++, Java, etc.)

  • Good organizational and communication skills, written and oral

  • Must be computer literate

  • Ability to work in a team environment

Engineer I

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

General responsibilities include performing hydrologic and hydraulic modeling computations as part of a team of engineers and GIS analysts for various-sized projects for public and private entities. Will include attending meetings, and assisting in coordinating project tasks with the team. Some level of field work will be necessary. Travel will generally be local except for limited attendance at regional and/or national conferences.

EDUCATION (MINIMUM REQUIRED)

  • BS in Civil Engineering, or approved engineering degree

EXPERIENCE (MINIMUM REQUIRED)

  • 0-4 years in water resources related work

  • Some experience with H&H models such as EPA SWMM, XP-SWMM, ICPR, HEC-HMS, and/or HEC-RAS,

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED

  • Registration as Engineer-in-Training (EIT)

  • GIS and/or CAD experience preferred

  • Good organizational and communication skills, written and oral

  • Must be computer literate

  • Ability to work in a team environment

Prepares or oversees the preparation of final plans and design reports and submits them for approval. Conducts or oversees personnel involved in engineering investigations and planning work.

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE (MINIMUM REQUIRED)

  • B.S. or M.S. in Engineering (preferably Civil Engineering with a specialization in Water Resources)

  • P.E License is required
